Creating and Implementing a Shared Contact Directory to show as CallerID and Remote Directory
Introduction
This guide is designed to assist users in creating and implementing a shared contact directory within BlueCloud's VoIP platform. This feature is crucial for enhancing communication efficiency by allowing phones to look up and display contact information from a remote directory. We will walk you through the steps of creating a shared contact in the portal, ensuring proper formatting, and then applying these contacts to specific devices using the vButton Builder.
Step-by-Step Guide:
- Login to the Portal: Access the portal or domain where you intend to add shared contacts.
- Navigate to Users: Once logged in, go to the 'Users' section.
- Access Shared Contacts: Click on the 'Shared Contacts' button. Refer to the image below for guidance.

- Add Contacts: You have the option to add contacts manually or import them from external sources like Outlook, Google, or Apple vCard.
Ensure that all contacts are in an 11-digit format. This requires adding a "1" in front of the number. For instance, a number like 7278675309 should be formatted as 17278675309 for proper recognition by the phones.
- Access Phone Hardware: Go to the 'Inventory' tab and select 'Phone Hardware'.
- Create a Template or Program Individually: You can opt to create a template for multiple devices or configure each phone individually.
- Use the Directory Button: While building the template or configuring a phone, ensure to click the 'Directory' button before saving or applying. Refer to the images below for clarity.

- Apply Configuration to Device: Once the directory is enabled and saved, apply the configuration to the device. This action will enable the device to display contacts from the shared directory and will be shown in blue as pictured below.
